Yeah, i swore that i was going to read that list of socialist sci-fi and fantasy. So what?
It’s not as if i don’t have enough books to read at the moment, but I’m looking for a few new paths to take. I ordered a book to explore the Oulipo movement, but mistakenly ordered the book of essays on how they do what they do and why, rather than The Oulipo Compendium (which apparently is out-of-print anyway.) I’ve leafed through the primer, and while i am definitely going to own it, i’m not up to reading it just now.
I have yet to read Alejo Carpentier‘s The Lost Steps or The Kingdom of This World. I’m now also on the trail of Miguel de Unamuno, particularly, Three Exemplary Novels and Abel Sanchez and Other Stories. I’m also trying to figure out if his concept of intrahistoria is a precursor to microhistory.
No, there’s little point to this post. I’m just trying to nudge myself into following through on acquiring and reading this stuff.
