Impractical demands: Herzog reads Schulz

March 11th, 2012 by badger

It seemed worth a go to give a listen to Nicole Krauss reading Bruno Schulz on the New Yorker site, but after a minute or so, i wound up thinking, “Fuck this shit. This needs Werner Herzog.”

Krauss’ NYC/Stanford vocal fry doesn’t quite work for me in a reading, even if her passion is sincere.

Besides, Schulz has a thing about birds. Herzog could add a new dimension to that in his reading.
