SEK mentioned a friend’s description of Ballard as “our Borges”. I’ve never read Ballard but am finding myself intrigued.
Ballard’s place in my head is the British Phillip K. Dick, although it might really be the other way around, with PKD as the American Ballard. That might be wrong altogether.
Only read Concrete Island and part of Atrocity Exhibition. He’s been on the TBR pile for awhile, but Cortázar is my primary obsession for the moment.
What’s also funny is that wen i first read Ballard, it felt like the early stuff by Ian McEwan that i read previously was post-Ballard.

very good link there. That post about “Ballardian music” ties into some trite kneejerk nonsense i read elsewhere last night about who really “owns” rock music.
I own rock music.
“I own rock music.”
That’s a classic.
