Finally i had to accept that the monitor was beyond hope. After several years, the desktop had stretched far beyond the ability of the monitor to contain it. Obviously, when the new monitor arrived, it promptly burned out the relatively new video card. If posting becomes sparse again here, one may safely assume that the new monitor and video card didn’t like each other either.
