give my love to everybody

Robert Wyatt “Las Vegas Tango pt. 1″ I confess that i’ve never heard the Gil Evans original. It’s still bizarre to think that this was released from 1971, as it still puts a lot of the “experimental” indie rock bands of today in the shade. It’s rare to hear something this sonically edgy, eerily soulful, and absurdly playful.

(yes, this is a 20 MB mammoth, and yeah, you need the whole thing for the right vibe…)

Thanks for this, one of Wyatt records I’ve not heard, and this track’s the perfect length for the walk to the pub.

Although i had Rock Bottom and Ruth Is Stranger Than Richard for many years, i only heard this album (The End of an Ear) for the first time in the past few weeks. i was hardpressed to make a selection from it at first, but the length of this one turned into the strong point instead of the obstacle. It got me into a strange headspace.

Another track “To Mark Everywhere” was my second choice. I’d wager quite a bit of money that it was part of the blueprint of Radiohead’s “The National Anthem,” incidentally.
