Hey Badger, hear songs of this little provincial band and let me know if you like it. Song#1, Song#2, Song#3, Song#4.

so what is it? I hear Westerberg, early REM, slicker mid-period Meat Puppets, a little Being There Wilco, and a host of other stuff.
Yes, i do like it. It’s a little more meat & potatoes rock ‘n’ roll than you know i normally listen to, but it’s quite good.
Ok, I’m glad to inform you that you finally got into Uncle Tupelo.
i’m still not crazy about it.
You don’t have to be crazy about it. You are right, no need to be overly surprised as it is a conglomeration of different sounds that came before Uncle Tupelo. Also, throw in Husker Du and Minutemen in the bag too. (The second song is even entitled D.Boon) But there are some exciting lyrics there. I think these four songs are better than anything Wilco and Sun Volt ever did. Nice music overall that shouldn’t be so lightly overlooked just because it’s a bit rural.
oh, and the fourth song, Nothing, is probably my favorite. It’s sounds like a Replacements song, but it has a cool guitar work that reminds me on Wedding Present. Now, I know Replacements are a bit too sloppy for your taste, but Wedding Present you like, I’m sure!
but i like Summerteeth more, even though i don’t listen to it right now.
It’s not the rural part that bothers me. It’s the relatively tepid reworking compared to the influences. It’s pretty and tasteful, but i cannot build an emotional connection. The theft is not bold OR subtle enough.
no, i prefer the Replacements actually. Especially the earlier stuff. i was late to it admittedly, but it makes more sense than Uncle Tupelo.
I only have ONE Wedding Present album. Sea Monsters
