This remnant of glacial action near Promethei Terra is even more recent, occurring within the past million years, than even the glacial deposits formed on the flanks of the volcano Hecates Tholus, referenced in yesterday’s BBC article. Both sites are at midrange latitudes, with the ‘hourglass’ crater of Promethei Terra at 38º South, and the volcano Hecates Tholus at 34.0° North.
