Santorum has introduced a bill that would keep federal meteorologists from “competing” with companies like Accuweather and the Weather Channel. Competition is not an accurate description, as while Accuweather and the Weather Channel employ meterologists, they use the data provided by the federal meteorologists, who are paid for by American taxpayers. Exactly why are we to subsidize information for corporations that depend on our consumption with our own tax money? That information is ours already. It belongs in the public domain.
