Scrubs with a laugh track

Tuesday, February 15th, 2005

Please don’t ever do it again. It was extremely perverse to see just how sadly unfunny it became in a more conventional format. It was an odd meta-criticism of the state of the American sitcom at the same time it insisted that it was celebrating it. Yuck.

Pre-Clovis plains hunters

It only breaks the Clovis barrier by a modest 1,000 years, with bones from prey dating from 12,200 to 12,300 years ago versus the 11,000 to 11,500 years ago of the Clovis hunters. The site is in northwestern Kansas. The bones are of mammoths and camels.

Zeros “Don’t Push Me Around” It’s kinda garage punk by-the-numbers, but it’s very early West Coast punk and sounds more like a Nuggets leftover than proto-hardcore stuff that came very soon. The Zeros were a Latino band, and apparently one of the Zeros, the guitarist Robert Lopez, is El Vez. Curiously, i’m amazed by how good the fidelity of the actual recording sounds. I’ve developed quite a fondness for these guys.

Zeros “Wimp” It cuts the difference between the Stooges and the Flamin’ Groovies. Yep, i’m pulling that old ‘Actually i prefer the b-side’ schtick….

Airkraft “Move in Rhythm” Since the Hot Hot Heat album is going to be a few more months, try this instead. It’s from the Hicks from the Sticks compilation, and they were from Halifax. That’s all i know.

If i knew someone was into Hot Hot Heat, i’d definitely try to trick them today, out of sheer boredom.
