Desert Sessions

Monday, December 13th, 2004

I’ve been ignoring this project called Desert Sessions. I recently paid close attention to them and they really surprised me with bold musical ideas. Queens of The Stone Age started the project and people like Mark Lanegan and PJ Harvey participate. There are ten sessions, and pretty much with each they get better and better. In fact I don’t care too much for the first four sessions, five and six are great, but 7, 8, 9 and 10 totally rule. Here’s a song from the seventh session, Don’t Drink Poison.

Cliff carvings in China

Monday, December 13th, 2004

In Damaidi in Zhongwei County of northwest China, the earliest cliff carvings have been dated from 20,000 to 30,000 years old. There’s a “Venus” among the carvings as well, similiar to figures found in Greece and Austria. It would be nice if they put up the images for comparison.

Clint curtis testimony

Monday, December 13th, 2004

Who the hell is Clint Curtis? Read this Wired article and find out. He testified in front of Democrats from the Judiciary Committee that four years ago, a Republican Representative from Florida, Tom Feeney, asked Curtis’ employer (Yang Enterprises, Inc.) to write code that would enable fraud on electronic voting machines.

More meat of the story over at Bradblog.

The FBI has been investigating Yang Enterprises, Inc.
