Diversified Collections Services, Inc. a debt collection agency, has agreed to cooperate with a state investigation into possible illegal campaign contributions in exchange for the dismissal of charges against it, according to a motion approved by a judge Thursday. It comes via the Stakeholder, which is incredibly amused how this news comes right after they get their payoff from DeLay in the form of the IRS now having the power to employ private debt collectors to collect taxes. Uhh… that still makes me too nervous to laugh. First mercenaries, then debt collectors, who are going to be making up to 25% profit?

No? It looks normal? How about that shining thing in the distance? Nah, nothing there. That’s probably left over from when the rover landed on the surface of Mars. Anything else?

How about now? What the hell is that? Let’s say it’s a rock. It’s an odd rock, isn’t it? Why is that rock that doesn’t fit into the rest of the landscape sitting there?
Charles Manson was not the only evil hippy
Thursday, December 9th, 2004Gong’s one of those bands i go through phases on. Without Daevid Allen, i don’t give a damn about them regardless. However, even with Daevid, i get my fill of pothead pixies and such. They get written off as twee, hippy dippy nonsense, but i get quite a creepy feeling from them sometimes. I wind up thinking more of Robert Anton Wilson’s machine-elves and Mescalito. There’s something nasty that bubbles up from the so-called idealism, right from the doorstep of Chapel Perilous.
Gong “Rational Anthem” It never occurred to me that Damien’s band Kyte used this song for the inspiration of “Standing in a Stream”. Early bedsit mope-rock that zooms off to the far reaches of the cosmos. No reservations about this song.
Gong “Chainstore Chant/ Pretty Miss Titty” Pockets full of blood? What’s so nonaggressive about that? It’s the melody of “Pretty Miss Titty” that interests me though. The chorus, ehh… The spoken word bit sucks. I swear that i have a tape stowed away somewhere that skips that bit, as well as some of the cliched ’60s solo guitar lines, perhaps from an Allen solo album. Perhaps i dreamed the perfect version of this song?
