This is how NASA is going to replace the Space Shuttle? While I thought that the X-33 was kind of cool, these proposed next generation launch vehicles are damned cool! Check out the artist interpretations of the microwave lightcraft and the laser lightcraft. It seems that someone might already have these things, especially when one considers how recently the SR-71 was declassified, yet how long it has been around. The military was still in denial of it in the ’70s. Rockets are boring. I want the weird stuff. Unfortunately, mucking about with microwaves and lasers is bound to have some nasty side-effects. I’m still scared of large power lines.

According to AICN, the Cartoon Network has acquired the rights to the original Dragonball series, as well as 96 new episodes of Dragonball Z. I don’t know what the hell the Big O is, as i don’t know nearly as much about anime as I’d like to know, as music is expensive enough hobby. I have mixed feelings about the inclusion of the other Gundam series, as the hardcore fanboys will slam my precious Gundam Wing even more. The official release is here but it’s much sparser on info.

I’ve been reading the paperbacks of the Dragonball comic as they are published, and finally beginning to appreciate new levels of the goofiness of the humor. Am eager to see the rest of the new compilations of the manga Akira too, as i missed the rest of the series, at the same time that i lost the thread of the Sandman, way back when. And yes, I will be getting the DVD when they finally release it later this year.

As for music, since it’s soaking wet outside, despite the gorgeous blue sky and the blossoms of flowers everywhere, my father’s been watching a production of “HMS Pinafore” on Bravo, and I’ve been getting an earfull of that, not to my displeasure. Before that though, I managed to convince myself that Belle and Sebastian’s last album is pretty good after all, but i don’t dare listen to anything else, lest i forgot that I decided that. Maybe another listen will nail down this belief? I just don’t know.

In flipping through books on my break yesterday, I noticed that Christgau gave both Supergrass “I Should Coco” and Gorky’s Zygotic Mynci “Introducing…” bombs… not even a clever insult or a dry comment… just bombs. I understand there’s going to be differences of opinions among people, but AMG’s erratic ratings seem more on target this book I’ve been paging. However, I’m compelled to read the book more, and see what else is out of place. I paged this book last fall, and don’t recall it being that… warped.

Is Yeltsin telling the truth? After all, we now know that the Soviets, and now the Russians probably have good intelligence on all levels of the United States, things that our media just is not willing to cover. Meawhile, the Republicans consolidate their power grab by making certain the real census numbers are not used to take away their dispropotionately high congressional seats.
